The craft store had many types of boxes, but this star shaped one really caught my eye. The star shape represents fulfilling wishes, the presence of all the elements and stars themselves, the ancestors of us all. The box has two magnets on both the top and bottom, so that it will hold itself together if it's put together properly.

First, I painted the star red with acrylic paint.
Then I applied red gold leaf to the whole outside and inner lip. This was challenging, as the leaf is very thin and tears from the slightest of pressure. It will probably chip off here and there as the years go by, but that is OK, since the red paint will show through.
Then, of course the star needed glitter! This is super fine glitter, the stuff that really looks like pixie dust. It is coating the whole inside. It is also coating much of me as I write this. ;)
After the varnish was dry, I added a sparkly ladybug sticker. To her belly I added a tiny star shaped rhinestone. Now I have a blessing box, and I am eager to add wishes!
